As an experienced photographer, I was recently given the opportunity to test the Leica Q2 Monochrom at the famous Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). My goal was to put the camera to the test and see how well it performed in a cultural environment. After spending a day taking pictures, I can confidently say that the Leica Q2 Monochrom is a top-notch camera for shooting art and architecture.
Released in 2020, the Leica Q2 Monochrom is a full-frame mirrorless camera featuring a 47.3MP monochrome CMOS sensor and a fixed 28mm Summilux f/1.7 ASPH lens. This camera is capable of capturing incredibly detailed black and white photos with excellent dynamic range and contrast. The camera’s durable, weather-sealed body is built with high-quality materials that make it an ideal choice for shooting in various conditions.
During my visit to the LACMA, I had the chance to put the Leica Q2 Monochrom to the test. I used it to explore the museum and capture some stunning black and white photos of the exhibits. Whether you are an artist yourself or simply appreciate art, the LACMA is an excellent place to visit for inspiration. It also boasts a vast collection of film and video art, comprising over 1,900 objects spanning from the 1960s to the present day. In addition, the outdoor plaza features a public artwork called Levitated Mass, which is a 340-ton boulder suspended over a 456-foot-long concrete slot.
Overall, I had a positive experience testing the Leica Q2 Monochrom at the LACMA. The camera performed exceptionally well, and I was able to take some stunning black and white photos. I recommend the Leica Q2 Monochrom to anyone looking for an exceptional camera for shooting art and architecture.
