An English backpacker meets a struggling Japanese ‘Freeter’ named Michi while they are staying at a rundown hostel in Osaka. The two become close while exploring the local hangouts of Japan’s “lost generation.” While traveling through the slums of Ho Chi Minh City, the backpacker is drugged by a shady betel nut seller near the filthy Thi Nghe canal. He wakes up alone and stranded in a massive metropolis filled with international brands, sleek tablet computers, and trendy Asian design students. With chaos reigning, the young man must navigate through the city’s sprawling Junkspace shopping mall to find his way out.
