The Etymotic ER4XR Extended Response Earphone is designed for audiophiles who seek an immersive audio experience. It features a single balanced armature driver in an anodized aluminum shell that is CNC machined with tight tolerances. This makes it highly accurate and compact. It also provides strong passive isolation with 35-42 dB of noise reduction. The right and left channels are matched within 1dB across frequencies for a consistent and enjoyable listening experience. Compared to the reference model, ER4SR, the ER4XR offers a “fun” sound signature with added bass. The frequency response graphs are designed to deliver a perceptibly flat frequency response that compensates for the resonance in the ear canal. The target frequency response was developed by Etymotic based on over 20 years of human hearing and acoustics research. Each ER4SR and ER4XR comes with a channel-matching compliance graph.

The Etymotic ER Series 2.5mm Balanced Cable is a cable upgrade for the entire Etymotic ER Earphone Series. It uses an MMCX connector with a special “key” that helps lock the cable in place and protects the integrity of the connector. The black 2.5mm balanced cable is compatible with all Etymotic ER series earphones that have the MMCX connector. It provides discrete signals to each side of the earphone pair from the player or headphone amplifier that you are using.
