Applications:

• Install the USB driver software. You can update or download this driver anytime from the internet.
• Plug the USB cable to your PC, the yellow ‘POWER’ LED will illuminate.
• Slide-switch to select operating mode, and connect the test cable and HART device according to the following pictures:
  • 24VDC/270Ω Mode: The red “24VDC” LED will illuminate. This mode can power all 2-wire HART devices, and the internal loop resistor is available. It does not need external power and loop resistor.
  • Normal Mode: The red ’24VDC’ LED will not illuminate. This mode is very typical for HART MODEM, needs external power and loop resistor 250Ω~1000Ω.
  • 270Ω Mode: 1. The red ’24VDC’ LED will not illuminate. This mode needs external power and does not need a loop resistor. 2. Run the HART application software to configure your HART device. The red and blue bi-color “Tx/Rx” LED will blink alternately when the communication is good between PC and HART device(Tx-RED, Rx-Blue). 3. If you finish your operating, please close your HART software, then pull out the USB cable and disconnect the test cable.

The WS232UP USB-HART Modem allows for complete and flexible PC communication link to HART networks and power kit and loop resistor, facilitating commissioning, servicing, calibrating, or acquiring data from any HART instrument or transmitter. The WS232UP conforms fully to the HART standard for communication with any HART instrument and error-free slave testing. It also draws DC-DC isolation power from the USB port and needs no external power supply.

Three modes are available for use: 24VDC/270Ω, Normal, and 270Ω, all easily slide-switch selected so you’ll always have a power supply or loop resistor with you. The modem is easy to install and use, able to power all 2-wire HART devices-independent of the supplier. The modem’s rugged aluminum alloy case makes it an industrial-grade device while keeping it compact enough to be easily carried around.

The WS232UP USB-HART Modem also comes equipped with free HART application software for you to configure your HART device. It boasts a smart design, smaller than a normal name card, making it perfect for field service, commissioning, engineering, training, tabletop shows, lunch, learns, and demo cases.
