Recently, I had the chance to test the Olympus Tough TG-5 camera at Exposition Park in Los Angeles. As a professional photographer, I can confidently say that this camera is outstanding for all levels of photography, whether you’re an amateur or a pro.
The camera is compact, rugged, waterproof, dustproof, shockproof, and freezeproof with 12MP BSI CMOS sensor, 25-100mm equivalent F2.0 lens, and 4K video capability. This camera has a range of features and settings that make it achievable for all levels of users. A dynamic ISO range of 100-12800 provides excellent dynamic range, and the 20fps burst mode enables photographers to capture quick action shots.
Additionally, the Olympus Tough TG-5 offers an array of shooting modes like automatic, manual, motion, macro, and panorama. I tested all the modes and found them versatile for all kinds of photography. The camera’s macro setting captured vibrant and detailed close-up images of flowers and plants, while the manual mode allowed me to adjust the shutter speed and aperture to capture stunning landscapes. The panorama mode was useful in capturing larger portions of the park.
The camera also features an intuitive user interface. All of the controls and settings are easily accessible, making it a great option for novice photographers. Additionally, the camera offers several post-processing features like exposure compensation, white balance adjustment, and noise reduction.
The only downside to this wonderful camera is its battery life. The battery drains relatively fast, requiring frequent recharges during extended use.
Finally, Exposition Park proved to be the ideal setting for our photoshoot with the Olympus Tough TG-5. With its diverse landscapes ranging from lush gardens to the iconic LA Memorial Coliseum, it provided numerous opportunities for capturing fantastic photographs. Moreover, the lake is perfect for capturing reflections and sunsets. And let’s not forget the California Science Center, which is home to a variety of interactive exhibits.
